Time references allow you to define when a step should be activated. For example, sending a message the day before surgery or following up with a patient one week after start of a treatment.
How to use time references?
Click on the transition line between the steps where you want to add a time reference. In the detail panel on the right, you can choose three options in the drop-down menu:
By default, all transitions are set-up to "immediately" advance to the next step
"After a delay of" allows you to add a delay before activating the next step for [X] minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, or even years.
"Use reference date" enables you to configure a transition after/before a certain step or event was completed e.g. 7 days after surgery. The event (by means of a reference date) will need to be defined somewhere in the care flow. Select this data point in the drop-down list and specify the delay you want to use.
Note: to activate the next step in advance of a reference date (e.g. 5 days before the surgery date), install a negative delay (e.g. -5 days) on your transition.
Now, you've created time references between steps. This allows you to bring your care flow to the next level. Additionally, you can add conditions to transitions to determine which activities are next and for whom.
